Phillips Racing Ltd. was set up in 1992 by Richard Phillips
and his brother Michael, the former editor of Raceform
and Racing & Football Outlook.
As Directors, they have seen this small business grow
and grow over the decade, starting out in Sparsholt
near Wantage, moving to Beechdown Farm in Lambourn before
settling at Adlestrop following Richard’s appointment
at Jackdaws Castle.
The company prides itself on its friendly efficiency,
making both clients and horses welcome and wanting for
nothing. As with all successful companies a combination
of hard work and attention to detail has led to increasing
success.
Employing around fifteen experienced and dedicated staff,
this friendliest of yards will continue to provide a
quality service at a competitive price.
Testimonials
"It was a controversial
decision to offer the job at Jackdaws Castle to Richard
Phillips following the retirement of Champion trainer
David Nicholson. However, he has proved in a very short
time that the decision was correct. A hardworking, perfectionist,
driven and competitive, he proved to have the knowledge
and humour to cope with the ups and downs of that final
season of ours at Jackdaws. He made the most of the
opportunity and in no time at all has developed Adlestrop
into a high class training establishment. Last season
his handling of my horses, Supreme Toss and Chopneyev,
proved his patience and his ability to place horses
successfully."
Mr Colin Smith
"I have been lucky enough to be riding for Richard
for many years. We have enjoyed many successes together
and I enjoy riding for someone who is just as competitive
as I am. He has undoubtedly proved he is going right
to the top and I look forward to sharing many more successes
together."
Richard Johnson
"I have known Richard Phillips for 15
years. A very humble man with a great deal to be humble
about, we have had some great success together but as
the Carpenters said, “it’s only just begun."
John Inverdale
"I’m delighted to see Richard’s
career going so well. His hard work and dedication is
paying off and his handling of La Landiere roved to
everyone that he is as good as the best."
